The Day After Christmas
We went to Grandma Wille's apartment on the 26th to celebrate one last Christmas in Solon. Her apartment is pretty small, and there was a lot of people packed into the place. Luckily we got there early and had good seats for the day.
Caleb hung out pretty much the whole day with his Great Uncle Dale. They had a great time playing and snuggling.

When he wasn't hanging out with Uncle Dale, his little butt never touched the ground. Here he is with Great Aunt Barb while Great Grandma Wille tries to get him to smile.

Unfortunately little Caleb picked up a stuffy nose and a mild temperature. But he's battling through it and we are taking good care of him!
We had a great time with the Wille's, Bartlett's, and everyone else we spent time with over Christmas. Thanks to Grandma Mary & Grandpa Bob for the roof over our heads. It would have been a cold and snowy weekend without it!!! All the food was great and Caleb's first Christmas was a memorable one.
We look ahead to next weekend when we get to do it all over again on the other side of the state with Grandma & Grandpa Lesher!!!!

Christmas Day.....
We spent Christmas Day with the Bartlett side of the family. We actually were able to hold our get-together at the Brosh Community Center in Solon because Andy's cousin Mike is in charge of the place.
Before we left, here's what we had to dig out of from Christmas Eve..... (about 7 inches)

Grandpa B was so happy to see Caleb and he could hardly put him down!

Caleb wasn't put down the whole day. Plenty of other people were eager to hold him and say "hello". Here's Caleb's Aunt Joanna, she just loves little Caleb!

And soon-to-be cousin Bob here filling Caleb full of bull$@#%!

It was another great day of Christmas break! We look forward to seeing everyone on the Wille side of the family today!!!!

Caleb's First Christmas (cont.)...........
We spent all day Christmas Eve at Grandma Mary's. We played games, watched movies and had an amazing roast for dinner! After dinner we opened presents and Caleb loved every minute of it!
Here he is hanging out with Grandpa Bob!

Caleb wanted to play "Santa" so we got out his outfit and he played the part all day!

On Christmas Eve, Dad read Caleb the real story of Christmas.

Christmas Eve was a late night and we were all very tired. It even showed on Christmas morning as Andy could not get Caleb and his mom out of bed!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!

Caleb's First Christmas so far......
Caleb woke his parents up early on Thursday morning and wanted to open his stocking and presents before we took off for Grandma Mary's!!!

Caleb's stocking was made special by his Great Aunt Diana Bartlett. It is beautiful.

His favorite present was in his stocking....a new pacifier!!!!

Once we got to Grandma Mary's Caleb saw that he had another special stocking made for him. It was so big he could fit inside it!!!!

Forest Friends
Andy shot a deer behind the house last Sunday and he used the entrails as a "bait" site. He set up a trail camera over the bait and captured the creature that lurks in the shadows of the Ledges.
The world's largest raccoon also waddled in to check things out!!

Gettin' Ready for Christmas
Grandma Mary came over this weekend and helped Caleb get some Christmas decorating done. We went to Ames on Saturday and picked out a tree. We supported Andy's old club and bought the tree from the ISU Forestry Club. When we got home, Caleb & Grandma strung the lights and put up some decorations. Here's Caleb & Grandma posing with their tree!

Sunday afternoon Andy crawled up on the roof and added some more lights to his outdoor Christmas display! It's one of the best in the county and has been described as "Breath-taking" and "Award-winning".

Nasty Dogs
We spent Thanksgiving with Grandpa & Grandma Lesher in Missouri Valley this year. There was lots of food, relaxing, card playing, and fun. However, as is the case whenever we visit, Dozer and Rudy think they need to wrestle the ENTIRE time. So here's what we have to walk around, listen to, and deal with whenever these two get together.
After a quick butt-sniffing "hello" they are literally at each other's throats.

In short order we have a 2-dog Tornado on our hands.

What Rudy lacks in size, he makes up for in raw, untamed ferocity! Here he is in mid-strike. Rudy runs circles around Dozer, them jumps up on the couch, using it as a springboard to launch himself back on top Dozer.

Eventually we can't take it anymore and both dogs end up in jail!!!

2 months old
Caleb celebrated his 2 month birthday on November 24th. We were hit by a little ice storm in the morning, which delayed our take off for Grandpa & Grandma Leshers house. But we made it out the door by 2pm and arrived safely at Caleb's grandparents right before dark. Here's Caleb's progression from birth to now.
Shortly after he was born

1 Month

2 Month

At his 2 month Doctor's appointment he was just shy of 13 pounds, which puts him at the 88th percentile. His head circumference was in the 99th percentile! He's a growing little man and his favorite thing to do now is smile at people!

Caleb's Baptism
Today Caleb was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone. We had lots of family there to celebrate with us.
The baptismal gown that Caleb wore was first worn by his Great Great Grandpa Charlie almost 115 years ago in January of 1896. Since then that same gown has been worn by Caleb's Great Grandpa Jim (1929), Grandpa Mike (1954), Uncle and also Godfather Seth (1983), and dad Andy (1981).

Our regular priest could not conduct the baptism because he was recovering from surgery on his vocal cords just 4 days earlier. Instead Deacon David Brown did an excellent job and Caleb did a great job, not crying or fussing once.

We came back to our house for lunch after the baptism. It was a great day and we were glad so many family members were able to make it to share Caleb's special day.
By the end of the day, both Dad and Caleb were tuckered out!

Engaged!!!!
Solon Weekend & Halloween
As promised, here's the rest of the pictures from last weekend.
Great Grandpa & Grandma Bartlett. They loved meeting Caleb. We also visited Great Grandma Wille, but unfortunately didn't get any pictures.

Uncle Seth & Aunt Joanna...Thanks for letting us stay at your house!!!!

Great Aunt Sara

Great Grandma & Grandpa Bartlett with all but 3 of their great grandchildren.

Caleb & his newest cousin John. John is the son of Andy's cousin Mike, so technically Caleb & John are second cousins (I think). Caleb is only 8 days older than John.

Great Aunt Sherri and second cousin Reese. Caleb is in his Halloween costume....it's a horse!

We had a great time seeing lots of friends and family...even if some of them slept on the couch the whole time we were at their house (Mitch). And thanks to Grandma Mary for watching the little man while we watched the Iowa game at the Station!! We had a blast!

Caleb's first trip to Sutliff
Every time we go back to visit family in Solon, we always end the trip by eating Sunday lunch at Sutliff Bar & Grill and then head back home. Andy practically grew up in Sutliff and we've enjoyed going there for years. This was Caleb's first trip to Sutliff. He decided he wasn't hungry and didn't order anything!
