SURPRISE!!!!!

Caleb's great grandma Edith turned 85 a few days after we were back in Solon, but while we were back we had a party for her!  It was actually a surprise party that Andy's mom had planned and invited all Edith's kids and grandkids.  Andy's cousin Justin, his wife Brooke, and their 9 month daughter Kate were back from California and Edith had never met her only great granddaughter Kate before, which made the surprise doubly special!

Here's Grandma with her 3 great grandchildren.  Kate, Jeremiah, and Caleb.
Now lets set the stage for the big surprise.....  The party was Sunday, but all weekend Edith was calling and stopping by to see what was going on because she had a sneaky suspicion that we were planning something!  We finally convinced her nothing was going on (with a few little white lies) so she would actually show up to her surprise party!

Here's Brooke, Justin, Kate, and Deanna before the big surprise.

On Sunday, everyone had arrived early, and Edith was set to show up at 12:30.  We saw Edith coming down the gravel road so we all ran to line the driveway and welcome her.  Justin, Brooke, and Kate sat in some chairs; hiding behind one of the cars so Edith would see them last when she parked.  As she came to the driveway entrance and saw all her kids and grandkids she pulled in, turned around, and headed back the way she came!!!!

We all knew she'd be back, so we sat back down in the yard and sure enough, she pulled in a few moments later.  Here's Edith, pulling into the house, laughing at the surprise.......

As she rounds the corner and sees Justin, Brooke, and Kate the surprise really sinks in!!!!  At this point, she is stopped in disbelief and we all begin to realize she has not yet put her van in PARK!  The family, who'd begun to gather around her van, started yelling at her to put the van in park!!!

Well, she finally put the vehicle in park and got out, still in shock over the surprise.  It was one of those moments that when you reflect on family memories, this one will always be brought up!

Here's the birthday girl, after regaining composure.  Because of internet censorship rules, I'm probably not allowed to repeat what she is saying to all of us in this next picture after we layed the ultimate surprise on her!!!!

The Sprinkler

If there's one thing Caleb loves, it's water!  Whether it's bath time, the pool, or in this case....a SPRINKLER!

Back in Solon

Andy took the weekend of July 14-15 off work and we went back to Solon for a few different reasons.  First off, Andy's grandma Edith was turning 85 and there was a surprise party for her on Sunday (more about that on another post).  Secondly, little Jeremiah (Andy's nephew) was getting baptized too!  Both Trish and I were the Godparents and we had a great time seeing him and being there for him as he was baptized.

Highlights from the weekend included helping Andy's cousin Mitch build a Donkey Fence, playing in the sprinkler at Gammie Bartlett's (more on that as well in another post), the baptism, and Edith's party.  It was a HOT weekend, but we had a blast seeing lots of family and friends.

Summer Time

With the recent hot spell, Caleb has LOVED spending a lot of time in his backyard pool!

Lately Caleb has been going to bed and taking naps with the aid of his "big truck"!!  He won't let go even when he's fast asleep!

We know now for sure that Caleb belongs to Andy.....he LOVES ranch dressing!!!!
