Introducing Emmett James!

Emmett James Bartlett joined our family yesterday.  He made his appearance at 8:03am.  He weighed 7 lbs 11 ozs and was 20 inches long.  A very healthy boy indeed.  Momma is doing well and resting.  Baby Emmett has a good appetite and pretty much justs eats & sleeps, which makes our lives easy.  Lets hope he keeps it up!  Caleb has visited a few times and loves his baby brother.  He also misses his mommy but has a couple awesome Gammies taking care of him!  It'll be interesting to see how he adjusts when we bring Emmett home.  Here's a few pictures of the little man, he looks a lot like his older brother!

Thanks to everyone so far who's stopped by to wish us well and meet the new little man.  Extra THANKS to Gammie Mary & Gammie Jean for taking great care of Caleb until we can come home.

Caleb Day

Last Saturday we celebrated Caleb Day.  Since the new baby will be arriving soon and Caleb won't be the only child anymore, we decided to take him out on the town and show him a good time!

Our first stop was Monkey Joe's in Des Moines.  If you have small kids and have never taken them there, you are depriving them of some serious fun!  It's a building/business full of inflatable bounce houses and slides.

Caleb was a little intimidated by all the running & screaming kids at first, but before long he was joining them, running from house to house!

There was a big slide that proved a the most intimidating to Caleb at first.  He had no problem climbing to the top, but once there, he balked at sliding down!  This "shy" routine managed to help him land the help of a couple "older" ladies.  He used his looks, cunning, and charm to win the pair over and they took him up & down, over and over again!

After a couple hours of running, bouncing and sliding we had a red-faced, sweaty little man!  We bought him a piece of greasy cheese pizza and he ate it like we've never seen him eat anything before!

After the pizza we convinced him that we should probably leave or risk his lunch ending up on the floor of one of the bounce houses!  We drove across the street to Valley West Mall.  While walking through the mall, we saw the Easter set-up.  There was a photo opp for the Easter Bunny and train rides for the kids.  We took advantage of the non existent line and tried to see if Caleb would sit with the Easter Bunny.  He wanted nothing to do with it!  So we sat down as a family and got a pretty good picture!

Then Caleb & Mommy took a ride on the Easter Express! (They are in the last car)

After the train ride, we did a little shopping and sat down at Jimmy John's to get some lunch.  Caleb fell asleep in the stroller and slept for almost 4 hours!  We sure did a great job of wearing him out.  We'll always miss having just our family of 3, but we've got more love to share and things will surely be more exciting with the new baby arriving in a couple weeks!
